- A ring of rooms around one square
The parti, step by step
A square that children own.
The brief asked for six group rooms, a hall and a kitchen. We arranged them in a ring so that every room opens onto the same covered square — a place to run, paint and play in any weather. Each room has its own colour and its own door to the garden.
The structure is a simple timber frame on a 3.6 m grid; walls are prefabricated and the whole building was assembled in nine weeks. Big circular skylights bring daylight deep into the square and make the roof visible from the street.
