About
The space
between things
Kumo — "cloud" — was founded in 2013 by Aiko Mori and Kenji Hara. We are five designers working with a circle of Kyoto craftsmen: carpenters, plasterers, paper makers and gardeners.
Three principles
Less, but with care.
Kanso — simplicity. Remove what is not needed until only the essential remains.
Shizen — naturalness. Materials that come from nearby and return to the earth.
Yūgen — quiet depth. Rooms that reveal themselves slowly, over seasons.
