How we work
Methods
Four ways we work with councils, communities and developers. Most projects use all four.
Urban design
Masterplans, streets and squares, from first sketch to construction drawings.
Neighbourhood plans
Community-led plans that become planning policy — written in plain English.
Street trials
Temporary planters, paint and benches to test an idea for a month before building it.
Engagement
Workshops, online maps, translation and outreach to people who usually aren't asked.
Questions
Who hires you?
Mostly city and town councils, housing associations and community groups — and developers who want their schemes shaped by neighbours from the start.
How do you reach people who never come to meetings?
We don't hold meetings first. We set up at school gates, markets, bus stops and places of worship, and pay community researchers who already have people's trust.
Do you publish the results?
Always. Every consultation ends with a public report, including the ideas we couldn't take forward and why.
Can we use your online map tool?
Yes — our comment map is available for any project we work on, in 12 languages and accessible formats.
